Para SUKMA: Three brothers took the podium in the swimming pool

KUCHING, SEPT 23 – Three brothers from Kapit, Sarawak contributed medals for the host contingent through the swimming event at the Para Sukan Malaysia (Para SUKMA) 2024 at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Center here today.

The decision of Donny, Julius and Stanley Jaranding who were previously involved in athletics to venture into aquatic sports around 2017 turned out to be lucky for them.

Eldest brother Donny, 44, who was born with vision problems, could not hold back tears during the medal presentation ceremony in his final appearance at the biennial games.

“I am very happy (to win) because this is my last SUKMA (and) even more happy because my two younger sisters also won medals.

“Thank you to the coach, family and friends who always give support. I only do the best for Sarawak,” he told reporters here today.

Donny took home gold medals in the S13 men’s 100 meter (m) freestyle (visually impaired) and the S13 100m backstroke. – Named
