CLEVELAND, Ohio — No. 2 Perry defeated No. 3 Streetsboro, 45-21, in a Division IV, Region 13 semifinal at Burton Berkshire High School Great Lakes Cheese Stadium on Friday.
Perry quarterback Walter Moses completed 17 of 21 passes with five touchdowns to lead the Pirates. Running back Carter Hopkins caught two long touchdown passes and rushed for another.
No. 2 Perry (12-1) will play No. 5 Glenville (10-3) for the regional title at a site to be determined on Nov. 22. Streetsboro finishes 12-1.
Streetsboro cut the lead to 24-21 on Cohen Kilmak’s 6-yard rushing touchdown with 3:23 left in the third quarter. Perry quickly answered as Moses threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Ashburn to extended the lead with 2:26 left in the third.
Moses threw his fifth touchdown pass to Luke Sivon with 6:17 left in the game.
Perry fumbled on its opening possession but the defense forced Streetsboro to punt. Moses threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Carter Hopkins with 8:44 left in the first quarter.
Perry’s Colt Crissinger added a 27-yard field goal in the second quarter. The Perry defense recovered a fumble that set up Moses’ 41-yard touchdown pass to Brody Petrucelli.
Streetsboro cut the lead to 17-7 on sophomore Marcus Council’s 6-yard rushing touchdown on third-and-goal. Perry answered in just 26 seconds of game clock as Moses connected with Hopkins for a 63-yard touchdown pass. Streetsboro’s Cohen Kilmak scored on a 1-yard run to cut the lead to 24-14 at the half.
