TEMBURONG, 31 OCT – The Self-Identity Program (PJD) is a very important initiative because it not only gives the youth the opportunity to improve their skills but also forms much-needed personality traits such as resilience, discipline, mental and spiritual strength and ability as a team member or team leader.
In that relationship, the young generation needs to be trained to be leaders with integrity, vision, responsibility and able to mobilize positive change in the community, for the sake of the community.
Member of the National Assembly, Honorable Chong Chin Yee emphasized the matter in his speech at the PJD Closing Ceremony for Cohort 7 which took place at the National Service Program Training Camp (PKBN), Batu Apoi, Temburong, today.
He stated that the challenges experienced by the trainees throughout the program will help build their mental resilience.
“It means a person’s ability to face challenges, stress or mental difficulties, then rise again from all of that.
“Good mental health is very important so that one can control emotions and live life well.
“On the other hand, individuals who suffer from mental disorders are unable to do so and may fail in facing the challenges and twists and turns of life,” he stressed.
He also advised parents and guardians to continue to provide solid support and encouragement as motivation and fuel for the trainees and to continue to fight to achieve excellence in the future.
Earlier the Director of the Brunei Employment Center (PPB), Hajah Noraini binti Haji Mohd Jamudin in her welcome speech expressed the hope that PJD, which has already trained 772 people from Cohort 1 to Cohort 6, will not only be able to bridge the skills gap and shape the thinking of the students so that they become more able to work and ready for industry, and can even train them to apply noble values based on the Malay Islamic Beraja philosophy.
The ceremony also witnessed the video screening of the journey of Cohort 7 trainees in applying the main components of PJD including nationhood and identity, entrepreneurship, discipline and physical training, religion and community service through dialogue sessions and industry visits, leadership and soft skills training, activities- religious, physical activities and also voluntary work.
