A child died in the Spandau district of Wilhelmstadt on Saturday night. Berlin Police and the public prosecutor’s office.
In the early hours of the morning, emergency services were called to an apartment building on Päwesiner Weg in Wilhelmstadt. At around 3:50 a.m., residents heard loud noises coming from a ground floor apartment. They also saw objects being thrown outside.
When the police forced their way into the apartment, they found a lifeless three-year-old child in the presence of his 42-year-old mother. Despite immediate resuscitation attempts by the police and a doctor who was called to the scene, the child could not be saved.
Investigators believe it was a homicide. The mother was arrested as a prime suspect.
The 8th Homicide Squad of the State Criminal Police Office and the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office have begun investigations. An autopsy was performed on the body at midday. The investigation is ongoing. (Tsp)
