SAN FRANCISCO, NOV 27 – Boston’s Kristaps Porzingis and Memphis’ Ja Morant made long-awaited NBA comebacks on Monday, while Kyrie Irving scored 32 points to help Dallas beat Atlanta.
Porzingis had 16 points, making five of six three-point attempts, as well as six rebounds, two blocks, and two assists in 23 minutes of play for the defending champion Celtics in a 126-94 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at home.
“I’m back ready and looking forward to creating a lot of great wins,” Porzingis said.
Latvian center Kristaps Porzingis has been sidelined for five months after undergoing surgery on his left ankle in June following an injury suffered during the NBA Finals.
“It hurts a lot not being able to be on the court,” Porzingis said. “But it was worth the wait to finally be back with my teammates.
“I’ve been close to the finish line for a few weeks now, and the closer I get, the more impatient I get. And now, the time has come.”
When asked about the condition of his ankle, Porzingis replied: “It’s not as bad as I thought it would be.”
“I did have a little difficulty jumping on some high passes, but I was still able to finish them and I’m happy with this game, happy with this win, and with every game, I’m just going to find my rhythm more and more.” – AFP
