BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 28 – The Town and Country Planning Department (JPBD) recently held a public side event with youth from Belait District as part of ongoing efforts to involve various parties in the preparation of development plans.
The event took place at the Community Hall of Kampung Pandan, Belait District.
Present at the event was the Commissioner of Town and Country Planning, Dr Marsita binti Omar as the chairman of the event, including officials from relevant government agencies.
The event aims to listen and get input on inspiration or challenges in generating progress for the Belait District as well as empowering the role of the youth in the progress of the country.
In addition, it also encourages the active involvement of those parties to jointly discuss issues of progress as well as express ideas or creative approaches in producing progress, especially to generate economic and social growth of the population as a whole.
One of the main activities carried out was a group discussion where the youth were divided into four groups, each of which was given a specific theme for the discussion.
Through the discussion, the participants had the opportunity to voice their views on the issues of progress identified especially for Kuala Belait Town.
In the final discussion session, each group presented the findings of some solutions and creative aspirations for the future for the development of Kuala Belait Town which is expected to open opportunities for economic and social development including recreational activities towards a healthy life.
Also discussed is the balance of economic, social and environmental needs that need to be emphasized towards sustainable progress that requires a comprehensive planning approach.
Therefore, sustainable urban development should be carried out taking into account the ability to accommodate the needs of various land use resources without negatively affecting traffic flow, health, safety, or the environment and the sustainability of an area does not only depend on planning, management and control of use efficient land, but it also depends on positive support from various walks of life.
In addition to the group discussion, JPBD also prepared an exhibition on land use planning which it is hoped will be able to give exposure to the youth about some of the development plans produced for the Belait District.
