He also asked for the resumption of international budgetary aid to his government, suspended because of the opacity of security spending and links with the paramilitaries of the Russian Wagner group.

This speech comes as the Central African authorities seem to be seeking relaxation in their relations with Western countries in recent months, with in particular the meeting on March 2 in Libreville between Faustin-Archange Touadéra and French President Emmanuel Macron.

A meeting the day after which a demonstration of support for Russia was organized in Bangui by pro-power groups who denounced in particular the ” Machiavellian plan of the West against the Central African Republic, and while French companies, first and foremost the Castel group, are targeted by demonstrations and online attacks accusing it of collusion with the rebels.
