BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 25 – A 35-year-old Bangladeshi, Md Ataur Rahman will be tried in December after denying the charge of complicity in prostitution brought by Prosecuting Officer Ahmad Firdaus Mohammad.
Md Ataur Rahman is accused of helping Oranee Suila, a 53-year-old Thai woman, to get clients for three Thai women involved in prostitution in Brunei.
Suila, who pleaded guilty to the charge of living off the proceeds of prostitution, has already been sentenced to two years in prison. He admitted to arranging prostitution services for the women and collecting part of their earnings.
One of the women served about 120 clients over several months, with Suila receiving a portion of the payments.
Magistrate Abdul ‘Azim bin Othman yesterday set the trial date for December 2 to 14.
