LOS ANGELES – The wife of Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell says her husband is seeking medical treatment after launching into a fight on stage with guitarist Dave Navarro.

The fight during a concert Sept. 13 in Boston prompted the band to cancel all remaining dates on its North American tour. The reunion tour was the punk band’s first in 14 years.

The band formed in Los Angeles in 1985.

Farrell’s spouse, Etty Lau Farrell, in a long post Sunday on Instagram apologized on behalf of her husband for his on-stage outburst and said they were humbled by “beautiful words of love and support – checking in over and over again to make sure we are well taken care of.”

Farrell wrote that her husband already has appointments with an otolaryngologist (an ear, nose and throat specialist) and with a neurologist.

“We are taking a bit of time to ourselves, to reflect and to heal,” she wrote. If you know and love Perry well, you know there’s no need for me to address the other false narratives. Our souls know.”

Farrell wrote that she and Perry were “equally astonished at Perry’s physical outburst as you are” but explained that he had been “pushed to his absolute limit” and “to that end we apologize.”

During the Sept. 13 concert, Farrell confronted Navarro and then threw a punch while the band was performing “Ocean Size.” Video of the incident shows Farrell intentionally shoulder-bump Navarro. He then begins to yell and push toward the guitarist. Navarro tries to hold him back, but Farrell then throws a punch across Navarro’s chest.

A few days later, the band posted a note to Instagram that it was canceling the rest of the tour and that ticketholders would be able to get refunds.

Farrell, in her post, promised her husband would be back, once healthy.

“Make no mistake when he’s ready he will take another giant leap over obstacles to make us laugh, think, while changing the world together,” she posted. “With all of your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will once again be able to share his music, vision and artistry — unbridled.”
