Moisture has started to move in and it is mainly in the form of rain early this morning. Temperatures are chilly but they are above freezing.
We will need to monitor the potential for some snow to mix in with the rain today. The best chance for this to happen will mainly be around and north of I-70. Showers slide south through the day and will begin to impact areas farther south of I-70 by the afternoon.
In addition to the rainfall there will also be mostly cloudy skies and a gusty northerly breeze. This will keep high temperatures below the norm in the 40s.
Northern Kansas will begin to dry out after sundown as showers continue to track south. The entire area will be drier before we head into the overnight.
Clouds break during the night and the breeze will not be as strong. This will eventually lead to a freezing start to Thanksgiving morning.
Holiday travel on the big day will be just fine. Sunshine returns and the breeze will continue to die down. Our only weather worry will be needing to dress warm to fight off the chill.
Those who will be in search of shopping deals Friday can expect a similar day. Another system will be nearby late Friday night into Saturday.
It could clip our area with snow to the north and east. After that, active weather will be put on hold for a little while as we continue the trend of freezing nights and cool afternoons.
