Policy: – 20 years in national politics is enough. I have spent eight years in the government apparatus and twelve years in the Storting. It has been exciting and rewarding, but also a bit demanding at times, says Rigmor Aasrud NRK.

Aasrud will have turned 65 when the parliamentary term is over. She has no concrete plans for what lies ahead when she steps down from the Storting next year.

Aasrud comes from Jevnaker and has represented Oppland in the Storting since 2009 and was a minister in the Stoltenberg government in the period 2009–2013. She has been Aps’s parliamentary leader since 2021.

Earlier this week, the Center Party’s parliamentary leader Marit Arnstad also announced that she will not stand for election next autumn. As a result, the governing parties lose two of their leading politicians in the Storting.

– I feel that we have had good chemistry. If we have been a bit loud sometimes, we have put it behind us before the door is closed again, says Aasrud.
