Royal Bolton: Staff create NHS themed cakes

Staff at Royal Bolton Hospital have celebrated the NHS’s birthday by baking a range of incredible healthcare themed cakes.

The cakes were baked as part of the NHS Big Tea event and celebrated the 74th anniversary of the foundation of the National Health Service.

They were then entered into a competition and cake sale to raise funds for Royal Bolton’s official charity.

One of the cakes illustrates the NHS’ history

A Bolton NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: “All those with a love for baking and/or cake decorating, as well as all those who just love to eat cake, take a look at these cakes made by staff.

“As part of the NHS Big Tea and to help celebrate 74 years of the NHS, Our Bolton NHS Charity are holding a cake baking competition and cake sale to raise funds.

The Bolton News:

All the designs were themed around the health service

“Fundraising support is greatly appreciated as it will help us invest in the latest technology and research; fund specialist staff training, and enhance our facilities for the benefit of patients and their families.”

A photo supplied by the health trust shows the winner of the best design category, with an ornate display commemorating the history of the NHS.

The NHS Big Tea event will return next year to mark the health service’s milestone 75th anniversary.
