Sport: As a year ago, Alexander Zverev stands between Ruud and another final on the red clay in Paris. Last year, the German was beaten in three sets. In the last set, Zverev did not win a single game. In an ATP context, the two are nevertheless equal, with two victories each since 2021.

And recently, the German Olympic champion has risen significantly.

– It will be tough against Zverev. He has been good all year and has recovered as one of the top five in the world. Last year I did well against him, so I’ll look back a bit at what worked and what I can take with me in terms of play and tactics for this match, says Ruud to NTB.

Earlier in the week, he missed meeting world number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic. The Serbian had to withdraw due to a knee injury.

– It has been a somewhat special situation in recent days. A walkover in the quarter-finals is not something you expect in a Grand Slam, but unfortunately injuries are part of the sport, says the Snarøya man.

– It’s a shame for Novak. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope the operation went well, so that he is back as soon as possible.

Ruud says that he has benefited from getting three days off from fighting.

– I have used them well to train, rest and get ready. The first four games here were tough.

For the third year in a row, Ruud can be seen in the Roland-Garros final. The other semi-final is between the Italian Jannik Sinner and the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz.
