KUALA TERENGGANU, NOV 15 – Seafood traders at the Kepong Market here share their livelihood with the public by selling floating fish for 20 cents each.
The business manager, Wan Ahmad Suhaimi Wan Abd Kadir, 43, said the cheap sale was aimed at helping the community, especially the less able, to save on kitchen expenses.
He said it was also in conjunction with the opening promotion of fish sales at Pasar Kepong which had been idle for a long time.
“Today I prepared as many as 4,800 kilograms of selayang fish sold at 20 cents each. Customers can buy as many as they want.
“God willing, we will maintain the sale price of floating fish at 20 cents each every day.
So, customers don’t have to worry anymore because they can get a source of protein for their families at a very cheap price,” he said when met at Pasar Kepong, here today.
Wan Ahmad Suhaimi said his business operations start from 6:30 am to 2 pm every day with the help of about 20 workers.
However, he said, on today’s opening day, customers have already started lining up since 6am this morning to not miss the opportunity to get fresh fish at a cheap price.
According to him, in addition to selayang fish, various types of fish and seafood are also sold including red fish, mackerel fish, kerisi fish, squid, fish eggs, shrimp and selar fish which are sold 10 to 20 percent lower than the market price.
“Every Saturday, we plan to also hold a low price promotion for salar fish.
For example, if a customer buys two kilograms of fish or more, we will give a larger quantity,” he said. – Named
