Court: A man in his 40s has been sentenced for grievous bodily harm after inflicting knife injuries on another man in Kopervik.

In addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered to have a contact ban for one year, with electronic monitoring, which prohibits him from visiting certain areas in Haugesund, Karmøy and Tysvær, Haugesund’s newspaper writes.

It was in October last year that the man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he attacked another man with a knife in Kopervik. The court determined that the convicted man broke a previously imposed restraining order when the attack took place, writes the newspaper.

During the trial, according to the newspaper, it emerged that the now convicted man broke into the victim’s home while he was sleeping, threatened him and inflicted knife injuries on him.

The convicted man will be monitored electronically for one year and will not be allowed to visit Karmøy and parts of Haugesund and Tysvær.

The defender has stated that the verdict will be appealed, writes the newspaper.
