KISSIMMEE, Fla. (KSNW) — Wichita State men’s basketball remains undefeated this season.
The Shockers defeated Minnesota in the first round of the ESPN Events Invitational at State Farm Fieldhouse in Kissimmee, Florida, on Thanksgiving Day. WSU was down by 5 points in regulation, but Harlond Beverly tied the game with just 1.2 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
Beverly scored a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, putting the Shockers on top 68-66 against the Golden Gophers. Beverly scored 16 points, Corey Washington added 13 with seven rebounds, and Xavier Bell and Justin Hill each added 11.
The Shockers will face Florida or Wake Forest in Friday’s Championship game. Tip-off is 2:30 p.m. Friday on ESPN.
This is the first time the Shockers have started the season 6-0 since 2019 under former head coach Greg Marshall.
