Shuib wants to drag extreme slanderers to court

Comedian and entrepreneur Shuib did not hesitate to take legal action against a TikTok user who issued defamatory statements involving his company, Bubblebee Sdn. Bhd.

Shuib or Shahmira Muhamad, 40, said that the strict action was taken because slander was hurled causing impact and loss in business.

“I read a statement released on TikTok and it went too far because if you want to talk about a product or its founder, you have to think about the impact on that person.

“If the effect is not good and causes a loss, I have to take action because it is not fair for me and the company.

“All those accusations are baseless. I read the comments made and I can come out with facts and a very solid basis to defend my company,” he told mStar.

In the meantime, Shuib said the legal action was taken to teach a lesson to the individuals involved not to take lightly all the statements uploaded on social media.

Shuib said, he was used to facing individuals who were sued and in the end they just bowed down in shame because they realized a mistake had been made.

“Our business is a big business involving millions of ringgit. If the individual involved can cause millions of losses to us, I think he needs to be taught a lesson.

“Maybe he thinks this social media can be played with… I’m used to going through this and finally when I meet in court, individuals like this just bow their heads in shame and speak in a trembling state.

“If I don’t take action later, he will think he is the wisest in what he says,” he said.

Previously, Shuib and the company director of Bubblebee Sdn Bhd, Kho Choon Guan, faced six charges of failing to pay service tax including a penalty amounting to RM1.6 million last year.

However, Shuib pleaded not guilty as soon as a separate charge was read before Judge Rasyihah Ghazali at the Sessions Court, Shah Alam, Selangor on Thursday.

Prior to that, Shuib and Kho were fined RM17,500 by the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court for seven charges including arrears in Social Security Organization (Socso) contributions last year. – Agency
