Medicine and health: In total, sickness benefit was paid for 9.7 million days in the first quarter of this year. This is a decrease of 1.7 per cent from the first quarter in 2023, figures from Nav show. The number of sick pay cases, on the other hand, is almost unchanged, at 307,000.

When it comes to diagnosis groups, only one group has increased, namely mental health. The other diagnosis groups are virtually unchanged or have decreased, says Nav.

For patients in mental health, the number of sick pay days has increased by 3.4 per cent and the number of cases has increased by 6.4 per cent.

Women account for approximately 60 per cent of sick pay days and cases. This is virtually unchanged.

Health and social services are the industry that accounts for the largest share of sick pay days and cases, both at 27 per cent.
