BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 6 NOV – In the excitement of the Brunei Book Festival 2024, the Brunei History Center (PSB) also did not miss out on introducing six new publications, which took place at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas, recently.
Among the published books are the Brunei State Constitution 1959: Dalam Ristaan; a book of Brunei State Story Poems; History Coloring Book 1; Darussalam Journal Number 23 and Pusaka magazine Number 55.
The book was launched by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and the Second Minister of Defence, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, during the opening ceremony of the festival organized by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
Books Brunei State Constitution 1959: In Ristaan is the first luxury book published by PSB written by Dayang Salina binti Haji Jaafar.
The book covers the journey taken by Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien in fighting for the constitution and government of Brunei Darussalam until achieving independence on January 1, 1984.
While books Poem Story of Brunei is a transliteration book from Jawi to Rumi that was studied and compiled by Professor Ampuan Dr Haji Brahim bin Ampuan Haji Tengah. The book is a traditional literary work with a modern nuance where it unravels the historical events that took place during the reign of the 28th Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien (1950–1967).
Books Coloring History 1 is also the first coloring book published by the department which contains 10 illustrations about the history of the discovery and early existence of the Sultanate of Brunei which was founded by Awang Alak Betatar or Sultan Muhammad Shah, the first Sultan of Brunei.
For Darussalam Journal Number 23 contains seven articles, among which are History of the Relationship between the Sultanate of Brunei and the Malay Sultanate of Perak Darul Ridzuan: Era of British Colonialism; Aspects of Justice in the Traditional Malay Sultanate Government System; and Haji Wan Sulaiman Al-Fathani: Islamic Preacher Who Visited Brunei in the 19th Century.
Magazine Heirloom Number 55 contains historical writing sourced from study material and research results as well as documentation provided by PSB officers and staff among others Building the Brunei Malay House in Kampong Ayer, Tombs on Penyengat Island, Daeng Pendeta Tombstone, and Subok village.
