Skeletons for St. Jude uses unique Halloween displays to raise money for childhood cancer

Skeletons for St. Jude uses unique Halloween displays to raise money for childhood cancer

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Skeletons for St. Jude is an opportunity for people to put signs in their yards and collect donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through their Halloween display.

Vicki Kuhn’s display is in northwest Wichita near 13th Street North and 119th Street West. Each day, the skeletons are changed. This is her first year doing it.

“We’ve been doing skeletons for three years now. We actually change them up daily,” Kuhn said. “It’s kind of something fun we were doing as a family. We put them in all sorts of situations. Someone brought it to my attention, Skeletons for St. Jude, and I’ve been blessed with having three healthy children, but I’ve had friends whose children have struggled with cancer and fought the fight, and so how can I not give back?”

Chris and Dan Starcher live in Salina at Jack Circle and have done Skeletons for St. Jude for four years. Last year, they raised over $400, and this year, they have passed $1,000. To donate on behalf of their display, click here.

“Every dollar helps and helps the families,” Dan said. “They don’t have to pay for any hospital bills, pay for hotels. They don’t have to pay for the care. It’s one of the greatest donations that you can ever make.”

In June, Chris lost her brother to cancer, so they have a connection to the cancer community.
They say it is a great excuse to buy more Halloween decorations and give them to something that allows more children to be out trick-or-treating.
