Sport: It was a season best for both Skotheim and Rooth over the distance.

– It is a very nice opening for both of them, said NRK’s athletics expert Vebjørn Rodal.

There are expectations for the Norwegian duo before this year’s EC decathlon.

– We have prepared well. We Norwegians are basically at such a high level that it becomes a bit like us against the rest of Europe. It gives team spirit, and it has worked well, Rooth told NRK before the 100 metres.

The next exercise in the EC decathlon is at 11.05. Then it’s time for length.

At the beginning of March, Skotheim took WC silver indoors in the heptathlon in Glasgow. Then he was only 99 hundredths away from becoming world champion after a sparklingly good 1000 metres.

Rooth and Skotheim were respectively number eight and ten overall in the decathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last summer. The latter was clear that he is capable of taking many steps before the Olympics in Paris.

– Maybe I can climb five more places, to a 5th place. Then it’s not that far up. Each multi-sport game lives its own life, we also get to see what the others do, Skotheim told NTB in August last year.

Both Skotheim and Rooth have completed the Olympic requirement before the Games in Paris.
