SEOUL, NOV 1 – South Korea’s exports of instant noodle products reached a new record through October, driven by the popularity of Korean entertainment content internationally, Yonhap news agency reported.
Exports of instant noodle products jumped 30 percent year-on-year for the January-October period, reaching US$1.02 billion, according to data collected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The amount for the 10-month period has already exceeded the annual record of US$952 million for 2023.
By destination, exports to China increased 18.6 percent year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2024 to US$206.8 million.
Shipments to the United States increased 65 percent to US$176.5 million, while exports to the Netherlands increased 57.7 percent to US$76.7 million.
“Korean instant noodle products are now part of people’s daily lives around the world and their popularity is not a short-term phenomenon,” said Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryung.
“This success was achieved through the company’s efforts to develop customized products and marketing strategies, in addition to government support by relaxing regulations and finding new buyers,” he said. – Named
