Crime and justice: – It is a new offer we want to consider to catch children between 12 and 15 years of age, who are below the criminal minimum age, and who we know commit crime, organized by criminal networks or older youths. It is a housing offer, based on a great need to get everyone around them to cooperate, says Minister of Justice Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp) to VG.

The Center Party has gathered on Monday for a national board meeting, where one of the main themes is “a push to prevent youth crime and alienation”.

Both Mehl and Children’s Minister Kjersti Toppe take part in the debate. The latter says that there may be a need for closed institutions for this group.

– We have to assess how far it should go. But the most important thing is that today there is no offer where they are taken care of, she says.

“The Center Party wants to establish a safe house for young people as a new offer, where various actors around the child will collaborate on a specially adapted care and follow-up offer. Institutional and residential facilities in child care must be available to children throughout the country,” says the proposal to be considered at the national board meeting.
