YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. At the session of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Affairs, the draft law “On Amendments and Additions to the Law on Physical Culture and Sports” was discussed.
Presenting the proposed changes, RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan noted that in the amendments to the Law “On Physical Culture and Sports” it is proposed to replace the words “collective team” with the word “collective”.
It is proposed to add karate, kick-boxing, and muay thai sports to the list of sports for which the state awards 1st-3rd place athletes, their coaches and doctors in various international tournaments. Moreover, Karen Giloyan emphasized that the Ministry of Sport and Sports cooperates with the federations that are members of the international federation of this sport and have the corresponding license.
How? “Armenpress”– learns from the correspondence published by the RA Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, it is also proposed to define the cases of setting standards for sports and health, fitness halls and trainers, and swimming pools.
In the 9th article of the law, which defines the powers of the authorized body of the state administration of physical culture and sports of the RA, it is proposed to add three new points: cooperation with the private sector in the direction of the management of sports infrastructure, as well as the licensing of trainers of sports and health (fitness) gyms, regardless of the form of ownership. and about defining the order of the latter.
According to the Deputy Minister, the following amendment is proposed in the draft law. “Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in the activities of private or privately operated sports and health (fitness) gyms and swimming pools in the regions can apply and, if they meet the established standards, receive funding from state funds, according to the procedure established by the Government.”
Karen Giloyan informed that the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia has been discussing the construction of sports and health (fitness) gymnasiums with the private sector for months. As a result of the negotiations, a memorandum will be signed with one of the centers in the near future, and according to the preliminary agreement, in 3 RA communities – Yeghegnadzor, Ararat and Vardenis – sports and health centers will be built and operated by the private sector, which, in addition to fitness halls, will also have a game hall.
Speaking about the licensing of trainers of sports and health (fitness) gymnasiums, the Minister of Sports and Health Sciences, Zhanna Andreasyan, noted that this demand, one can say, comes from the representatives of the field. The minister emphasized the possibility of licensing trainers and further training. However, licensing of fitness trainers is not yet a legal requirement.
As a result of the discussion, the deputies raised a number of issues and proposed to amend it before presenting it for discussion in the second reading.
The project discussed in the first reading received a positive conclusion and it was suggested to include it in the draft agenda of the upcoming regular sessions of the National Assembly.
