A low-pressure system has brought snowfall to Colorado for much of Tuesday. This will impact travel for those planning to head west for Thanksgiving. The low will track into the Sunflower State overnight.
Cloud cover will continue to thicken overnight. This blanket of clouds will keep overnight lows in the 30s, much warmer than the 20s we started today with. Southerly winds will become northerly by daybreak.
Scattered showers arrive in northwest Kansas early in the morning. Rainfall will be light and stay primarily along and north of I-70 through the morning.
Northerly winds will keep temperatures cool on Wednesday. By the afternoon, snowflakes will begin to mix in with the rain across northwest Kansas. Moisture begins to track south of I-70 through the rest of the afternoon and evening.
This will be a quick-moving system. Rainfall clears out of western Kansas by the late evening, leaving behind cool temperatures and dry skies. Spotty showers linger in southcentral Kansas for the early part of the overnight, but we dry out before midnight.
Temperatures behind this system will be chilly. Thanksgiving will start in the 20s with cloudy skies before sunshine takes control for the second half of the day. Highs reach into the low 40s.
Temperatures stay cool for the rest of the week. A cold front will track through the state this weekend, bringing a reinforcing shot of cold air. Temperatures will be in the upper 30s on Sunday for the start of December before we slowly warm back towards the seasonal norm by next week.
