Storm Track 3 Forecast: Severe storms bring tornado threat this afternoon

An Enhanced Risk of severe weather covers the eastern third of Kansas, including the Wichita metro this afternoon.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Severe storms bring tornado threat this afternoon

In addition to the threat of large hail to golf ball size and damaging winds of 70 mph, tornadoes will be a concern. One or two may be strong.

Storms develop from 1 to 2pm and will move quickly to the northeast. Initially, storms may be more isolated and that will allow them to develop into rotating supercells capable of all hazards.

As the afternoon progresses, storms will grow into clusters or a line. This may help to temper the tornado threat some, but any storm with any elbow room will pose a substantial threat today.

Storms move east tonight, exiting the area around 9pm.

Halloween will be dry and cool, then we bring in more substantial rain chances over the weekend!
