Policy: The decision to suspend the conference was made by the local mayor of one of Brussels’ districts, Emir Kir. He receives severe criticism from the Belgian Prime Minister.

– It is unconstitutional to ban political conferences, writes Alexander De Croo on X.

Eurosceptic British populist Nigel Farage and Britain’s former Home Secretary Suella Braverman were among the main speakers at the NatCon conference.

It was also expected that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban would appear on day two.

Farage and Braverman gave their speeches on Tuesday despite the police entering the venue and notifying the organizers that they would shut down the conference.

On Tuesday afternoon, police officers stood guard outside the entrance and prevented people from entering.

A spokesperson for Britain’s Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also strongly disagrees with the decision to stop the conference in Brussels.

– This is extremely disturbing. The Prime Minister is a strong supporter and advocate of freedom of expression, and he believes it should be fundamental to any democracy, says Sunak’s spokesperson.
