WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — An SUV hit a 12-year-old girl as she walked to school Tuesday morning. It happened around 6:40 a.m. in the 3600 block of W. Maple, just west of Lawrence Elementary School and Mayberry Middle School.
The Wichita Police Department said the girl was crossing the street when an eastbound SUV hit her.
The girl has injuries to her abdomen and leg. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but police say she is expected to survive. The SUV driver remained at the scene.
