Sunflower State stays dry and warm this weekend

Helene is now a tropical storm but is still wreaking havoc on many states with the threat of damaging winds, flooding, and tornadoes. If you have family or friends being impacted by this storm, be sure to check on them. High pressure continues to dominate the Sunflower State which is keeping us quiet this morning.

Temperatures continue to tick back up today. Wichita’s average high has dipped down to the upper 70s. The most warmth will be felt to the west where some afternoon high temperatures could be a couple of degrees shy of reaching 90.

Even though more sunshine is expected today, a few clouds from Helene could move into Central Kansas. With tropical moisture looking to take more of an easterly track, a sprinkle or two could impact extreme Eastern Kansas but this is looking unlikely.

Since there will not be much of an impact from Helene on the Sunflower State, we have a nice Friday evening ahead. Low temperatures will dip back down into the 50s.

Tropical moisture will sit and spin to our east while slowly moving away from the Sunflower State through the weekend. Skies will remain dry as we continue to warm through the 80s with some spots pushing into the low 90s to the west.

We return to fall-like standards by next Tuesday once a cold front blows through. Unfortunately, it will not provide any moisture.

We will stay dry for the foreseeable future until we are able to break this trend. At least there will not be any active weather to interfere with outdoor activities, whether work or leisure.
