BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 23 – The 9th Junior Wusyu World Championship, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (KKBS) in collaboration with the Brunei Darussalam Wusyu Federation, is scheduled to start from 25 to 29 September.
The tournament will compete in two main categories, namely events Taolu which will take place at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex and events Sanda at the Multipurpose Hall, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
This year, the tournament will see the participation of 931 people consisting of 507 athletes, 220 team officials and 204 technical officials and observers from 50 countries. Among the countries involved are Algeria, Armenia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam as hosts.
The matter was announced by the Executive Secretary General of the 9th Junior Wusyu World Championship, Ang Ju Ming, during a press conference held at the VIP Room, Level I, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas.
Present as the guest of honor was the Permanent Secretary (Youth), KKBS, Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Sports Analyst, Youth and Sports Department, Haji Ahmad Yaardy bin Haji Abdul Karim, followed by a welcome speech from the Executive Co-Chairman of the Tournament, Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman and a speech from the Secretary General International Wushu Federation (IWUF), Zhang Qiuping.
The event was also graced with a video showing of the championship theme song and the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the sponsors by the guests of honor. The ceremony ended with a group photo session with the guests of honor.
The Junior Wushu World Championships is an official IWUF event held every two years, featuring the highest level of competition among junior wushu athletes from around the world.
