Policy: – Unfortunately, the number of dead at Epitsentr has risen to 11 people, writes Oleh Synjehubov on Telegram.

The hardware store in the eastern Ukrainian city was bombed in a Russian attack on Saturday. On Saturday evening, Synjehubov stated that 6 people had been killed, and that a further 40 were wounded and 16 were missing.

The attack sparked a large fire, and videos from the scene showed a black column of smoke rising from the store.

– Apparently the attack was against a shopping center where there were many people, this is pure terror, said mayor Ihor Terehov shortly after the attack.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who visited Kharkiv the day before, condemned the air strike against an apparent civilian target in broad daylight.

Kharkiv is Ukraine’s second largest city and is regularly attacked by Russian rockets. Russia launched a ground offensive in the county of the same name on 10 May. Ukrainian authorities claimed on Friday that they had managed to halt the progress of the Russian forces.
