THE HAGUE, DEC 4 – The Dutch F1 Grand Prix which has been the main event for world champion Max Verstappen will end in 2026, organizers said today.
“We have decided to end on a high with two more incredible Dutch Grands Prix in 2025 and 2026,” GP director Robert van Overdijk said in a statement.
The Dutch Grand Prix has been held since 2021 in the seaside resort of Zandvoort located on the North Sea coast.
Hundreds of thousands of orange-clad Dutch F1 fans packed the small town to support their hero, Verstappen, who until this year, won every race at his national track.
This year’s edition of the Dutch F1 Grand Prix saw a slight setback in Max Verstappen’s journey to the World Championship, as the driver endured a difficult weekend in changeable weather, losing to McLaren’s Lando Norris.
GP director Robert van Overdijk told national broadcaster NOS that there were various options given to continue hosting the Dutch GP, as Formula One seeks to expand into new markets.
“We can rotate with other circuits, there is also the possibility of continuing to be held every year,” he said.
However, in the end the decision was taken to end the race after the 2026 edition, added Van Overdijk. – AFP
