Crime and justice: Just since October last year, nine people have been killed in the Innlandet police district. Now the capacity is so overstretched that employees from the Emergency Police have to help in the investigation of murder cases, writes NRK.

Now the police are experiencing strong pressure due to the many murder cases, and they do not have the capacity to investigate other serious cases.

During the first four months of the year, the police in the interior have dropped as many cases due to a lack of capacity as they did in the whole of 2022 and 2023.

Police Chief Johan Brekke in the Innlandet police district says they are in an extraordinary situation, and that they have therefore seen themselves forced to re-prioritize resources internally.

The Police Federation in the Interior fears that road preparedness will be weakened when up to half of the UP personnel in the county have to be diverted.
