KOTA BHARU, NOV 1 – The fire-fighting operation at a recycling collection site on Jalan Padang Tembak, Pengkalan Chepa Industrial Area in Kota Bharu was completely finished today.
Head of Pengkalan Chepa Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Alam Nasut Ilias said his side will hand over to the owner of the company involved to carry out further monitoring starting tonight.
“We will hand over the responsibility to the company owner to carry out the next monitoring starting tonight because the fire fighting operation was completely finished at 5:04 pm last night.
“If there is smoke still coming out in the affected area, they can contact the fire department for further action and I understand that the company involved will start operating tomorrow to clean the area and so on,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Commenting further, Alam Nasut said that his party also made several maps using an excavator to separate the burning materials so that they could control the fire from spreading if it happened again.
“The Fire Forensic Department has also conducted an investigation into the incident and the cause of the incident has not yet been identified,” he said.
On 27 October last, the recycling material collection site was 80 percent burnt at about 6pm and 40 firemen were involved in extinguishing the fire with the help of five machines and four water tankers. – Named
