War and conflicts: The agreement “will lead to an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian aid for distribution throughout Gaza and a lasting end to the crisis, with Israel’s security interests and the safety of civilians in the Gaza Strip safeguarded,” it said in a statement.

Foreign ministers from several Arab countries are also positive about the proposal, according to Saudi Arabia’s state news agency SPA. The foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Egypt say it is important to treat the proposal in a “serious and positive” manner, according to SPA.

They met virtually to discuss the ceasefire proposal and also the US, Qatar and Egypt’s mediation to secure an agreement in which Israeli hostages are exchanged for Palestinian prisoners in an agreement that could lead to a permanent ceasefire and adequate emergency aid access, writes SPA.

US UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said on Monday that the US will ask the Security Council to adopt a resolution advocating for the ceasefire proposal to be introduced.
