KOTA BHARU, 26 SEPT – A laborer pleaded not guilty in the Section Court today to the charge of intentionally injuring his wife using an iron last Monday.
Mohd Nurhakiman Mohd Nasir, 35, is accused of committing the act at a house in Kampung Rambutan Rendang at 7:30 am, 23 September last.
The accused is charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years or a fine or whipping and can be punished under Section 326A of the same code which provides for a prison sentence of twice that period.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamarul Hasyime Rosli while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
Kamarul Hasyime did not offer bail since the accused are still married and live together in the same house.
Judge Zulkifli Abllah set October 29 as the date for the case to be mentioned again for the appointment of lawyers and the submission of documents. – Named
