The lorry driver was charged with hiding a gold bullion ATM machine

KUALA LUMPUR, DEC 4 – A lorry driver pleaded not guilty at the Ampang Magistrate’s Court today to the charge of hiding a Public Gold automatic teller machine (ATM), recently.

Loh Kian Luck, 41, was charged with concealing stolen property, namely a Public Gold ATM machine owned by Public Gold Company which was reported missing, at a premises in the Bukit Angkat Industrial Area, at 3pm, 2 Dec last, in accordance with Section 414 of the Penal Code which carries a prison sentence a maximum of seven years or a fine or both, on conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Wan Nur Iman Wan Ahmad Afzal suggested that the accused be bailed at RM5,000 with one surety, but lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), Vinobha Doss represented the accused asking for low bail because his client, who suffers from asthma, has to support two children.

Magistrate Normaizan Rahim allowed Loh to be bailed at RM3,500 with one surety and fixed the case for next February 20 for the submission of documents.

On December 1, Bernama reported that three local men, including a teenager, who were believed to have stolen a Public Gold ATM machine at a supermarket in Ampang here, had to turn a blind eye after the machine had no gold ingots.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the machine had been emptied and the loss was estimated at RM60,000 involving the machine involved. – Named
