BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 26 – A 31-year-old local man was convicted of assault and criminal threats after pleading guilty in the Magistrate’s Court, yesterday.
Acting Senior Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid postponed the sentencing decision until Thursday.
Mohamad Muhaimin bin Jufri pleaded guilty to two charges. The first charge involved an attack on his neighbor on October 30.
At 3:20 p.m., Muhaimin approached his neighbor’s house and reprimanded aggressively, shouting and pointing fingers in a threatening manner.
The victim, who was shocked by the accused’s actions, went into the house and immediately called the police and the accused’s father for help.
The second charge arose from an incident on the same day, where a still angry Muhaimin took a kitchen knife and returned to his neighbour’s house.
There, he met his father and threatened him with a knife, although his father tried to defuse the situation, Muhaimin remained stubborn and continued his aggressive behavior while threatening his father.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Atikah Husaini presented the facts of the case in court, explaining how the accused’s actions scared both his neighbors and his father.
The court also noted that Muhaimin does not have any record of past offences.
