The Parliament of Georgia adopted a package of bills which provides Restriction of the rights of LGBT people. Under the general title “On Family Values and Protection of Minors”. the package of bills envisages changes in 18 existing laws.

The European Union condemned the “hasty second reading” of the law, according to a statement by Peter Stano, the press secretary of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

“This package undermines the fundamental rights of the population of Georgia and threatens the growth of discrimination against a part of the population. The European Union is concerned that legislation with a significant impact on EU integration was adopted without adequate public debate and careful consideration of compliance with European and international standards,” the statement said.
