The Queen Agong concluded a two-day official visit to Labuan

LABUAN, NOV 6 – Her Majesty the Queen Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah ended her two-day maiden official visit to Labuan, an international financial and business center of the country, by attending a ceremony to award donations to the asnaf group today.

The gift of the donation is a personal gift from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim that reflects His Majesty’s commitment to charity initiatives and support for the community.

A total of 378 recipients comprising the asnaf group, the disabled (OKU), the elderly and the children of Darul Kifayah of the Islamic Religious Council of the Federal Territory of Labuan (MAIWP) received donations of food baskets, cash and school supplies at the Darul Kifayah Complex here.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Member of Parliament for Labuan, Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman and Director General of the Federal Territories Department (JWP), Datuk Noridah Abdul Rahim.

Raja Zarith Sofiah when saying that he hoped that the donation could help ease the burden borne and be fully utilized by those concerned.

“I understand that there are beautiful islands around Labuan that have the potential to be used as tourist centers in addition to scuba diving destinations, I hope they will continue to be explored to benefit the industry and the local community to increase income,” said His Majesty.

During her visit to the Labuan Matriculation College yesterday, the Queen presented a briefing on the current education landscape and hoped that the challenges of education in Labuan would be addressed to ensure that students receive appropriate support and do not fall behind in the national education system.

During a visit to the Kampung Sungai Lada Community Hall yesterday, His Majesty admired the variety of local handicrafts and hoped that the handicraft industry on the island would continue to grow thanks to the support of JWP and the Labuan Corporation.

“Throughout this two-day visit, I have seen a unique unity among the multi-racial community here.

I hope that all stakeholders on the island will work together to improve the welfare of the local community,” said His Majesty. – Named
