Policy: White House spokesman John Kirby claims they have not seen anything that would make them stop supporting Israel.

The statement on Tuesday comes after a series of Israeli attacks against the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip in recent days.

– There is no change in our Israel policy, says Kirby.

Internationally, the attacks are condemned from a number of quarters. An Israeli airstrike ignited a fire that killed 45 people in a tent camp for internally displaced people in Rafah on Sunday, according to Palestinian health officials. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has himself called the attack a tragic mistake.

The White House condemns the deaths, but they are adamant that Israel has not launched an offensive.

– Based on what we can see from what the Israelis are showing us, they are not launching a major ground offensive in the densely populated areas, says Kirby.
