BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, NOV 17 – Brunei Darussalam’s contingent consisting of four veteran athletes from Tutong District achieved excellent results when they brought home 15 gold medals and two silver medals in the Johor-Singapore International Masters Athletics Championship 2024 which took place at Mount Austin Stadium Johor Baru, Johor, Malaysia last November 15 and 16.

In the tournament, the country’s veteran athletes participated in the field and race events, namely 400m, 1,500m, 2,000m, 3,000m, long jump, deer jump, high jump, javelin throw according to their respective age categories and relay races. alternate 4x400m open.

Of the 15 gold medals and two silver medals won, Haji Ariffin bin Abdullah in the age group (80-84) has collected four gold medals in the 400m, 800m, deer jump and long jump events.

Haji Abdul Rani bin Haji Matasan also won four gold medals in the high jump, long jump, deer jump and javelin in the age group (75-79) while for the age group (65-69), Awang Marznimurney bin Abdullah won four gold medals in the 400m, 800m, 1,500m and 3,000m events.

Meanwhile, the veteran female athlete in the age group (55-59), Dayang Husna binti Abdullah who is also the team manager, has won three gold medals in the 800m, 1,500m and 2,000m events and two silver medals in the 400m and relay events. alternate 4×400 m open.

The tournament was also attended by veteran athletes from Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak as well as Brunei Darussalam.
