“The West has been seized by a war psychosis”

“There are people in Brussels who think that there is a competition about who will supply Ukraine with the most weapons, Europe or the USA,” Szijjártó pointed out.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó accused the West on Monday from the floor of the Hungarian parliament of being gripped by “war psychosis”.

“There are people in Brussels who think that there is a competition about who will supply Ukraine with the most weapons, Europe or the USA,” Szijjártó pointed out.

The head of Hungarian diplomacy has warned that the world is “on the 25th hour” to prevent a world war.

Szijjártó insisted that there is an immediate need to declare a ceasefire and start peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s government maintains relatively good relations with Russia, despite the Russian military’s invasion of Ukrainian territory on February 24, 2022. It supports, but hesitantly, EU sanctions on Moscow.

Apart from Turkey, Hungary is the only other NATO member country that has not given the green light for Sweden and Finland to join the military alliance. Stockholm and Helsinki, which have maintained a policy of neutrality for decades, applied to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The vote in the national Hungarian delegation to ratify their admission protocols was postponed until the end of the month.
