Former Portuguese international forward Fernando Gomes, winner of two Golden Boots and top scorer in the history of FC Porto, a club where he played from the youth levels and represented in 13 seasons in the first division, died today at the age of 66, due to a prolonged illness , revealed the national soccer champions.
The ‘Golden Boot’ of 1982/83 and 1984/85 and current member of the board of directors of FC Porto for training, who was recently admitted to a hospital in Porto, left the club in “mourning for the loss of one of its greatest figures” .
The Portuguese international also represented Sporting and the Spanish Sporting de Gijon, both for two seasons.
