Crime and justice: Palestine protesters pressed close to the arena before and during the final. Many had turned up with Palestinian scarves and Palestinian flags.

– We have a low tolerance for violence and threatening statements, says Evelina Olsson of the police in the city to Aftonbladet.

Both Swedish, Norwegian and Danish police were in action at the scene, according to the newspaper. The police formed a wall to stop the protesters and also used pepper spray.

On NRK’s live broadcast from the area, you could also see the well-known Swedish activist Greta Thunberg appear. She was eventually taken away by the police. Thunberg also participated in Palestine demonstrations in Malmö earlier this week.

– You support genocide. Don’t support genocide, they shouted.

Just beyond, another group of protesters were pushed onto a side road by large police forces as they approached the arena. The same also happened in connection with the semi-final on Thursday.

Throughout Saturday, there have been demonstrations in Malmö against Israel participating in the Eurovision Song Contest at the same time as the country is at war in Gaza.

At most, around 8,000 gathered on Stortorget in the center of the city to mark distance from Israel.

Also in the evening there were demonstrations in the center of the city.

Before the final began, some of the protesters stood outside the arena close to the line of people entering and shouted “shame on you” at them.

NTB also observed a protester being pushed to the ground by police. Several were also carried away.
