Crime and justice: It is a requirement that Trump must be interviewed by supervisors before the sentencing, which is set for July 11. According to three people with knowledge of the matter, this meeting will be held on Monday.

Trump will conduct the interview via video conference from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, sources told the AP news agency.

One of Trump’s lawyers, Todd Blanche, will be present during the interview.

People found guilty in criminal cases in New York usually have to face supervisors without lawyers present, but the judge in Trump’s case, Juan Merchan, wrote in a letter Friday that he is giving the green light for Blanche to attend.

The purpose of such interviews is to prepare a report that can provide the judge with more information about the defendant, and potentially help to decide what sentencing will be appropriate. Such reports include the defendant’s personal background, record and recommendations for sentencing, as well as information about employment and other obligations. The reports also give the accused the opportunity to say why they think they deserve the lowest possible sentence.

The sentencing in this specific case can result in anything from probation, to community service, to up to four years in prison.
