“I had a nasty neck injury. I had to recover from that first, but that’s over now. I’m so glad it’s Fight Week. I’m ready for it. I feel better than ever.”

Themba Gorimbo

The fight between Brahimaj and opponent Themba Gorimbo was moved from the prelims to the main card last Saturday. Brahimaj is of course very pleased with it.

“I think the UFC knows what they are doing. Both Themba and myself have a very fun fighting style to watch. We’re both going for the kill. I really can’t wait to fight again. The thought alone makes me very happy.”

Nice clash

Brahimaj expects it to be an interesting match against the Zimbabwean, but has a lot of confidence in his own abilities.

“During the time I wasn’t fighting I was also able to work on certain things in my arsenal. Gorimbo is a good grappler, but so am I. He also showed he has knockout power in his last bout. Overall, it’s just a good match-up for me style-wise.”

UFC APEX

It will be Brahimaj’s fifth UFC fight. All took place at the UFC APEX. Brahimaj himself doesn’t really care.

“The APEX is not an annoying thing for me. I know that many people have little use for it. Obviously it would be fun to fight in front of a big audience. I would love to fight in New York or Abu Dhabi, but there is something cozy about the APEX and Las Vegas is nice to fight. I have no problems with it. Maybe I can overtake Sean Strickland as the record holder fighting in the APEX.”

Coach Sayif Saud

Brahimaj has been training in Dallas, Texas at Fortis MMA for years under coach Sayif Saud. Brahimaj owes a lot to his coach. He even says that without Sayif Saud he might never fight.

“I have a very unique relationship with Coach Sayif. He is not only my coach, but also my mentor. And that’s mainly outside of fighting. And that is precisely what is so important. Our relationship goes way beyond just fighting. Coach Sayif is someone who really cares about you as a person. He is the personification of a real leader. Without him I might not even be where I am today.”
