Working life: In April, the unemployment rate was 4 per cent, which is a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, according to Statistics Norway (SSB).

However, the uncertainty in the figures means that it is not certain that there has actually been a decline, since the change is so small.

– Although unemployment in Norway is now at 4 per cent, it is still a low level compared to our Nordic neighbors Sweden and Finland, where unemployment is twice as high, says head of section Tonje Køber in SSB.

Compared to April 2023, there is an increase in unemployment of 0.5 percentage points. The increase is greatest among men.

Preliminary seasonally adjusted figures show a slight decrease of 4,800 jobs from March to April. It is down 0.2 percent. The change comes mainly from a decline in the industries industry and education.
