Policy: – The Iranian regime showed its true face last night when they attacked Israel with cruise missiles and drones, says Progress Party leader Sylvi Listhaug in a comment to NTB.

She notes that these are the same forces that supply Russia with weapons and for a number of years have destabilized the Middle East through support for terrorist organizations.

– Fortunately, it seems that Israel has managed to limit the damage with good assistance from the USA, Great Britain and France. Nobody benefits from this conflict escalating further, says Listhaug.

– SV condemns Iran’s brutal attack on Israel. Israel must refrain from irresponsible and illegal attacks that further escalate the crisis in the Middle East, such as the one that destroyed Iran’s embassy in Syria, she says in a comment to NTB.

SV urges all parties to reduce the conflict and introduce a ceasefire.

Fiskaa adds that Israel’s war against Gaza increases the tension in the entire region and the risk of a much larger war.

– It will have unimaginable consequences. It is necessary to put maximum pressure on Israel and the United States to stop the violence and increase the likelihood of peace.

– Now Norway must do what we can so that the parties come to their senses so that the situation does not escalate out of control and we end up with a major war in the region. It will have major unforeseen consequences, says Venstre leader Guri Melby in an email to NTB.

She supports the foreign minister’s view that an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council is necessary.

– But we must be clear that we are not naive when dealing with Iran. The Iranian regime is a destructive force in the Middle East, and shows again that they are using all means to destabilize the region, says Melby.

The party leader describes it as a dangerous escalation that Iran is now attacking Israel directly for the first time.

– We must meet this with a unified and clear line in which Norway must be involved.

SV’s foreign policy spokesperson Ingrid Fiskaa says that the attack increases the risk of war throughout the Middle East.

The Left also condemns the attack.
