KUCHING, 31 OCT – The people can channel their feedback on any government program or policy through the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), said Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
He said the role of UKAS was not only to convey the government’s wishes, but also to gather feedback from the people.
“Quick and accurate distribution of information is an issue that needs to be implemented effectively by UKAS to reduce the gap in understanding between the Sarawak government and the people,” he said when speaking at the Adjournment of Information Tour and Clarification of Current Issues in Kuching, today.
Abdullah said the Sarawak government always wants the community to give constructive feedback on programs or policies to be implemented.
“Perhaps at the Cabinet level, at the level of ministers and deputy ministers (programs or policies) look beautiful but we don’t know what the public’s opinion is (regarding the program or policy in question),” he said.
Abdullah said the public can also channel their views on the performance of their respective elected representatives to help the state leadership evaluate the effectiveness of the elected representatives involved. – Named
